Well, although I haven't seen the offer letter yet, I have confirmed with HR that I will be continuing on the Detroit assignment as a member of the core team. It will be a lateral move, and will involve a great deal of travel. I have to figure out what I'm going to do with Rembrandt, etc., because I don't really feel like I can be a responsible pet owner any more.
My travel schedule for the rest of the year is as follows - last week of October, first two weeks of November and first two weeks of December - Detroit, the rest of the time I'll be here. So only two more trips this year, and who really knows what the future will bring. I should find out more as soon as the team org charts come out and I find out if my position is slated for relocation to Michigan.
Right now, I'm ambivalent about the whole thing. I feel like my company pulled the rug out from under my plans, and I'm seriously considering what I really want to do with my future. If I'm committed to the book and my career as a motivational speaker, I probably need to find something else to tide me over while I go back to school and get my certifications, etc.
I've been to the gym and worked out with my trainer twice this week. It feels good to get back into it, and he's going to show me some resistance band exercises to use while I'm travelling to try to stay in the groove.
Lots of thoughts right now, no clear decisions.
