When I bought my house a little over 2 years ago, one of the things that disturbed my sense of style was the door hardware. The fixtures (plumbing and lighting) are a brushed stainless/pewter/chrome... Even the garage doors have a silver-tone handle. But the doors throughout the house were an ugly, bright brass.

Well, this weekend I finally decided to tackle the task of changing out the door hardware. Yesterday, it took me 3 trips to different Lowes to obtain all the hardware that I needed (except for the two exterior locking doors, which I still have to buy for). This means sets of door hardware and a new drill for the job (my cordless wouldn't have lasted through the whole process, so I bought a high-torque corded drill/driver).

Last night, I managed to do the first three doors before collapsing for the day (I spent most of the day driving around buying the stuff).

This morning I finished 6 more doors, which means that the upstairs is complete. I'm going to hold off finishing the downstairs until after I buy the hardware for the locking doors. They also have different hinges than the ones I bought for the non-exterior doors. I may have more trouble finding those in the finish that I'm looking for. I still need to finish installing the doorstoppers, but I've got to figure out something to use to pad the crescent wrench because I can't turn these in by hand as the replacement screws are larger than the ones from the stoppers that I removed.

I've also taken a break to take two more certification exams for my Six Sigma Black Belt.

I'm off to shower and to get some lunch.

Ciao for now.
