What a day. I got up at 6 a.m. and started getting ready for my new roommate, Rembrandt. Rembrandt is a coal black, American Shorthair that is almost 6 years old. My friend Karen's younger cats were starting to beat up on him, so she needed to find him a new home, and I volunteered to take him.
It was kinda tense at first. Well, strange, actually... I put the cat carrier down near the bathroom so I could show him where the litterbox was... he came out of the cat carrier, did his business and then immediately retreated back into the cat carrier for the next hour or so.
Once he got used to the place, he's been everywhere though. I think he's going to be fine, he keeps looking at me like, "OK, where are you hiding the other cats?" And once he realized that it's really just him, he's got this little self-satisfied smirk on his face, like, "I'm the man." Really cool.
He's been on my lap or trying to keep me from typing all night. He's purring and demanding attention. I'm not too worried about his adjustment at this point. He looks like he's already settled in just fine.
As for me, I'm a basket case. I need sleep.
Ciao for now.
