OK, I'm really going to start trying to post every day again. And it's not like I can't think up things to post about. Most days, I've got a running journal entry forming in my head, however, it just never seems to wind up on the pages of LJ. Don't even know why exactly other than just pure laziness maybe.
Anyway, I had to take a sick day today. My stomach was in absolute turmoil for some reason this morning. And the only output was of the stinky methane kind. I sure couldn't go to work like that, I'd probably make half my co-workers sick.
So, after expelling enough gas to power a small country for a year, I fell back to sleep around 10 a.m. this morning and didn't wake up until almost 5 p.m. Feel pretty normal now, although a little hungry and thirsty. I don't really want to stray out of the house though, and nothing I have here seems to strike my fancy.
I have *got* to buy a replacement microwave soon. I have an entire freezer full of yummy microwave cuisine that I can't place in my new convection oven (not that I'm unhappy to have bought the tabletop oven, I'm not). In fact, one of the things that might actually happen tonight is for me to bake some cookies in my new oven. I like it because it's "single-person" sized, and a lot easier to clean than a traditional oven. I just need to order the ovenwear for it so I can do some more cooking.
The other thing I want to start using more again is my breadmaker. I need to find a good receipe book for 1-lb. loaf breadmakers. I'm really kind of excited about the prospect of cooking again. I've spent the last 20 years addicted to restaurant food, and I do miss cooking, I just hate cooking for one. So I decided to approach the problem like I would anything technical. I started educating myself about things that would overcome my objections to "cooking for one" (like leftovers, I hate leftovers)... one obstacle for me was that most of my recipes would feed an army... so I've collected some "singles" receipes and I'm going to get started as soon as I've finished redecorating my kitchen.
I took some digital photos (before/after) of my kitchen cabinets. I'm almost finished, I've replaced over half of the hardware, I just have to make one more trip to the hardware store for some longer bolts and I'll be able to finish the drawers. I also have to get the baker's rack home and assembled so that I can finish reorganizing everything. Plus a few more odds/ends, etc.
Last weekend I got a fountain and a candle/rock garden centerpiece for my coffee table in the living room. After the cleaning lady comes this Friday to do my "heavy cleaning" I'll take some more pics and post them somewhere so people can see my humble abode.
Meanwhile, on the work front, it's going to be a tough couple of weeks because we have lots of folks in training etc. I feel badly that I wasn't in today and we're already short-handed, but trust me, they didn't want me there with the "music" I was playing.
So, I'm sitting here in the office, looking out the window on a beautiful day that I spent inside, and finishing a SoBe Elixir (my favorite flavor). I sure hope that I can actually get to sleep tonight, considering how much time I spent sleeping the day away today. We'll see...
Well, I'm going to go rummage around for something to eat and then do some more cleaning in the office while Rembrandt watches me from the windowsill.
Ciao for now...
