Well, I haven't accomplished a whole lot this weekend, however, it has been extremely relaxing. I got some things done that have been bugging me for a while, plus the usual mundanities like the laundry, etc. Spent most of the day yesterday just playing around on the computer, and some of today doing the same. Spent a lot of time napping as well.

I'm happy to say that my eating habits are taking turns for the better. I just got back from Sonic, where I actually threw away half of my food that I had ordered because I was full and what I had eaten seemed too greasy for me. I'll have an energy bar and some raisins before I go to bed if I get hungry again.

My goal is to lose 25 lbs. before the end of the year. I think this is reasonable, that's like 2 lbs. per week. And, as I said, I'm not dieting, I'm adopting healthy eating patterns for LIFE. 5-6 small meals a day, avoiding meats, sticking with poultry, fresh fruits and vegetables and things like energy bars (instead of candy bars) for snacks, etc. My intake is actually high-carb, low fat, with an adequate amount of protein each day. A couple of years back I stuck with this for 6 weeks and lost almost 40 lbs. Of course, I fell off the wagon due to some stressful events and travelling (which usually kills eating habits for some reason). Now, I'm actually looking forward to travelling since I've found things that are easily portable in a backpack to eat healthy so that I can stay away from restaurants, even when I'm on the road.

I just put catnip in a plastic grocery bag and Rembrandt is almost beside himself with joy. He enjoys playing with grocery bags (I always make sure to cut the handles so he can't choke himself), and a friend of mine suggested that I spike one with catnip. Boy oh boy is he out in the living room having a good time.

Another note about throwing away half my dinner tonight. As I was driving back home, I realized that one of the reasons that I have overeaten in the past was my mother's adamant insistence that you eat everything that you put on your plate... Now, because I love food, I have this horrible habit of having "eyes bigger than my stomach." But when I was younger, my mother would make me eat until I was bloated just to teach me a lesson. And a horrible lesson it was since it led to an awful habit of eating when I wasn't hungry.

I'm much happier eating smaller meals more often each day. I have more energy, and my sleeping patterns are improving as well. My goal is to be wearing a size 12 (which I know a lot of people will still think it quite large, but I'm 5'9" and have always been "big-boned" even when I was thin) by the time I turn 45 in five more years. I figure if I can lose 40 lbs. a year, I can lose 200 lbs. by then, which is about what I need to lose to be at a healthy weight.

All-in-all, I'm happy with some of the positive choices I've been making. In addition, I talked to a financial advisor over the weekend, and I'm happy with my financial picture as well. The only thing left up in the air right now is my annual review (which is due in less than a month on Oct. 16) and what kind of raise I will get for the year. Regardless, I'm going to check into starting a ROTH IRA for myself, which is something that I haven't done yet.

Ciao for now.
