It was a very slow day at work today... but I did get several things accomplished. I have a conference call tomorrow morning on one of my issues, which will probably be almost immediately followed by my annual review (yeah raise!). My boss apologized because it looks like my raise will be a couple of weeks late getting to me, but I usually don't mind because that means a little something extra in the "catch-up" paycheck. It's not like I'm not already living without this money anyway.
OK, now a mini-rant related to the Cam. I want to go to 12th Night. Not only do I want to go to 12th Night, I'm giving some friends a present and taking them with me (it doesn't really cost all that much more for me to do so, since I'm going to be renting a car and buying a hotel room anyway). HOWEVER, if I'm going to be able to make all the arrangements, etc., I need to have DETAILS about the event by no later than 11/09/01. Do I think this is going to happen? I'm not very optimistic at this time. Which will upset me, not only because I won't be able to make the event, but because I will have to let my friends down (again). Now the latter part really pisses me off, because when I say I'm going to do something for someone, I generally like to make that happen.
le sigh.
Anyway, that's what's been on my mind today since we got our annual PTO reconciliation forms back, and I'm planning out the last couple of months of the year, and the first quarter of next year PTO-wise. Another piece of good news is that our new manager doesn't grumble if you take your "extra PTO option" - which I did this year, and am planning to next year as well... I don't mind shelling out a little every paycheck in exchange for an extra 3 days off a year (which brings me to a total of 25 + 10 paid holidays for the year). I have to admit, that's nice... 7 weeks paid leave every year. After I've been there 8 years (4.5 to go), I'll get 30 days + 10 paid holidays. That's the max PTO for our company. You start out with 17, go to 22, then to 27 (+ you can purchase up to 3 days)...
And, hopefully, now that I'm on the medication and I'm beginning to feel better, I won't wind up using all my vacation time as "sick days" next year. (One can only hope). I'd like to be able to make 12th Night, SCARE, SERE and ICC next year. Plus sneak in a trip to DC, if possible.
Ciao for now...
