However, there is evidence that a habit is forming. I've been roaming around on the net for a while, waiting for my bagel to toast, and in the back of my mind there was this little voice telling me that I was forgetting something, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. Well, the moment I got back up here with my morning bagel, it dawned on me that I had yet to post to LJ this morning.
Sweet!
I love it when the biomechanics of habit work as they are supposed to. In case you didn't know, the psychology/physiology of habit takes approximately 3 weeks to set in, meaning that if you do something every day in the same way at the same time for approximately 3 weeks, you will develop the habit. That's why I can be honest with myself and know that the only reason I don't develop good habits is because I'm either lazy or stubborn... it's not really all that hard.
I think that the real trick these days is doing things at the same time every day. I don't know about you, but it's very difficult for me to get my daily schedule to cooperate with me on that. I think that has been the real reason I have so much trouble with my medication schedule, even after more than a year. I don't always *do* the same things every day, and therefore tend not to eat the same times every day, which is probably what is the hardest on my body right now. I'm trying to do better though.
But the posting habit is proving to me that it can be done, and that the conditioning does work. That just means I'll redouble my efforts elsewhere to develop those good habits as well.
In other news, today is payday! And, the beginning of a long weekend after work! My company gets MLK day as a holiday each year. However, this will be the first year in five that I have not had to work anyway. The NCSC has always been open because some of our customer Plans are not closed. This year however, I think that they determined that most of the Plans were going to be closed, so they didn't ask for a skeleton crew. Woot!
Got my new cube assignment at work, I'm going to be moving to a quieter area, which is good. Moves will most likely occur some time in the next month. They're moving almost everyone in my department. The new dynamics should prove interesting.
Ciao for now.
