I just wanted to post briefly tonight to say that I'm going to jump back on the morning post bandwagon tomorrow morning. I took a few days off to coincide with my vacation. Vacation is over, alas, it was too brief as usual, however, I did get a lot accomplished around the house, etc., and I left my work bin relatively empty on Wednesday last. So, other than commencing the quality smackdown tomorrow at work (which generally takes me approximately 1.5 days to complete), there is little on my schedule for the upcoming week.
Well, except for the fact that Friday we receive our annual corporate bonuses (yay!). I guess I shouldn't brag, but I am most fortunate to be working for a company whose benefits reach far beyond the average. Health care/life insurance is completely paid for... 50% match on 401k to first 6% of your salary contribution, MSA and Child Care Deferred Savings accounts, 17 days PTO + 9 paid holidays per year, plus the option to purchase 3 additional days (22 days after 3 years, 27 days after 8 years), an honest-to-God retirement plan and a substantial corporate bonus (for my salary grade, 7.5% of my mid-point, multiplied by various performance multipliers). Plus, it's a very stable company, especially considering that it's an IT-services company, and is operating completely in the black. Job security is a very good thing. I remind myself of this every time I feel like quitting due to the high "idiot" factor.
Michael and I got to spend lots of quality time together during our long weekend. I found an iron bed that I absolutely fell in love with at Pier 1 imports, so we bought it (it was on sale). It had to be special ordered, so I won't be able to pick it up for approximately 2 weeks. This was a good thing, as it gives me plenty of incentive to finally clean up/unpack the rest of my room. I made substantial progress on that task today, but it's not complete. I can actually see the floor to my bedroom now... scary. (For those how have been to our new place, you know that for the most part it's very tidy... but will also note that the door to my bedroom was always closed. There was a reason for that... my room is the disaster area. However, soon it will be as tidy as the rest of the house and Melinda will be a more relaxed camper).
Oh well, I'm babbling and I should be heading for bed soon.
Ciao for now.
