OK, didn't realize I hadn't updated in a while. Last Thursday I flew to Detroit (meaning that my HHR is now at Lambert Field in St. Louis), got my truck and drove as far as Tuscola, IL. Spent the night there where I couldn't get access due to their Internet helpdesk being a bunch of goobs. Got back to Columbia, MO around noon on Friday. The hospital has decided that I'm right, and that Dad can't go home by himself, they have arranged for care in their skilled nursing facility on the 5th floor. There aren't any beds available now, but they'll keep him on a regular floor until Tuesday, when one should be available.

Thinking that everything is taken care of, I have my FMLA paperwork signed and I head back to Atlanta. Drive from Columbia, MO to Atlanta, GA in 10 hours on Saturday. (I really wanted to be home). Had dinner with friends on Saturday night, and then avoided doing much of anything. Sunday night I get a call from Marlene (Dad's girlfriend). Seems the "doctor covering for your Dad's surgeon" released him from the hospital.

Just great. Dad doesn't want me to come home, he says he's fine, but I've seen him walk, and I know better. There's nothing I can do except wait for him to fall and have to go back to the hospital. Nothing really eventful happens either Monday or Tuesday.

Dad is back in the hospital as of Wednesday night complaining of chest pains. He should be released today, however, according to his girlfriend. He did *not* want me to come back home again. I'm going back for Father's Day anyway (I'm going to fly into Lambert Field and then drive the HHR back after I visit with Dad).

I took my scheduled PTO for today and Monday. I need some "me" time after all the stressful events of the past few days.

I have been productive this morning:
* got up at 5 a.m. (which is actually "sleeping in" an extra hour for me)
* went to Waffle House for breakfast
* took a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification exam (3 down, 14 to go + project)
* 3 loads washed, 2 loads dried/put away
* did some straightening up around the house (no where near done yet though).

I'm off to play with the cutest baby ever, Zander, and his mom, [livejournal.com profile] atomicferret.

Ciao for now.
