For those of you who didn't know, Daylight Savings Time begins in the US on Sunday, March 14 (two weeks away). In order to prep my body for having to get up an hour earlier, I use the following technique that I developed over ten years ago.
Starting tonight, I move my alarm clock back 5 minutes and continue to do so daily until I've moved it back an entire hour. This means that 12 days from now, on March 12th, I'll be getting up an hour earlier so that when DST rolls around two days later, I don't wind up going to work on Monday the 13th all lagged, etc. Of course, this year, it's going to be interesting because I'll be on vacation and in a different time zone for most of the prep period, but still, it helps me adjust.
This is not to say I'm not still somewhat tired, but it's much better than if I try to 'spring forward' all in one fell swoop.
If you have trouble adjusting to the change to DST, I recommend trying this to see if it works for you.
Ciao for now.
