I don't often post quotes or lyrics in my LJ, but I ran across something the other day I wanted to "immortalize" for my memories and just thought I'd leave the post public.

This is maturity: To be able to stick with a job until it's finished; to do one's duty without being supervised; to be able to carry money without spending it; and to be able to bear an injustice without wanting to get even. - Abigail Van Buren (Dear Abby)

Let's just say I'm working on it.

Ciao for now.

Well...

The reason I find the quote so appropriate is that on a professional basis it is invaluable, and I wish that all of my co-workers would aspire to becoming mature individuals. I used to claim that we had to grow old, but we don't have to grow up. I work my "childishness" like a badge of honor. In reading this definition, it makes me rethink both whether or not I am still "childish" and whether or not being in a "childlike state" is actually the opposite of being mature. I think you can be youthful without being irresponsible, which is what I believe being immature is. So yes, for me, maturity is important.
