My trip to DC in 2004 was shortly after Ronald Reagan's death. All of my pictures from that trip have a very somber tone to them. It's not often that one visits our National Capitol when all of the flags are at half mast. I also visited the temporary Flight 93 Memorial at that time too. I remember how moving that trip was, and how it changed my life in some fundamental ways. [livejournal.com profile] dch4 and [livejournal.com profile] ladyleo joined me on that trip. I remember it quite fondly, actually.

I'm quite disappointed that I was unable to visit DC for the 4th of July this year. So many of my trips got canceled this Spring/Summer due to my bout with cancer. I have rescheduled my trip to Charleston for the end of September, and will be going to New Orleans in late October. Just weekend trips, however, as I don't really have all that much PTO left for the rest of the year.

Next year, I'm going to use my PTO very differently, that's for certain. I'm going to take more half days, rather than full days, mostly because I can work until noon and only have to take 2.5 hrs. of PTO to get the rest of the day off. That's perfect for traveling, etc.

Ciao for now.
