Just finished eating my morning bowl of cereal. I've about another 90 minutes before I have to leave for work this morning. I'm sitting here mentally trying to make a list of the things I want to get accomplished today. It usually helps if I make a list, otherwise something always gets missed.
It's the first workday of the year for me. Seems just like yesterday that we were all crazy with Y2K stuff. (Working with legacy applications, Y2K was quite a complicated process last year. Of course, helpdesk personnel had to work while everyone else had vacation).
There have been a lot of changes in my workplace over the last year. We got a new boss, he created a position for a second team lead, I got a promotion and a bunch of new responsibilities. I'm no longer on the phones for the most part. It has taken some getting used to. I miss it in a lot of ways, but my system expertise can be better utilized as a Level II analyst now. The company as a whole chose a new IT vendor, and we're in the midst of a transition. It's going to be hectic between now and mid-February when we move the data center and all the remaining parts of the operation over to the new vendor.
Professionally, this will be a year full of challenges for me. I welcome that actually, because I like to learn and grow. Personally, my life has always been challenging. I'm still trying to sort out what I really want for my life, and how to get there. I think that's probably an ongoing process for everyone.
Ciao for now.
