Ugh. Rotten week, home with the flu most of it. Upcoming colonoscopy on Friday (if I don't lose a helluva lot this week after that "cleansing" I'll be surprised). At least I'm still making progress toward my goals. I'll post more about my week in another entry, this is just supposed to be for the weight loss plan.

Wow. When I look at the fact that I've lost almost 50 lbs. since the end of October, I'm truly amazed. I also have to wonder, "why now?" I mean, I've "tried" to lose weight in the past (and succeeded once, actually, losing 80 lbs., just before I moved to Atlanta in 1993 - before I gained it all back over the intervening years). In fact, I still have another 45 pounds or so to go to get to my "low" weight of 285 that I was at while in Atlanta. I mean, in all actuality, I'm not really doing anything that much different except being careful not to skip meals and to eat *at least* 3 times a day, but more like 6 times. In fact, I think in some ways I'm actually eating *more* food now than I was before, but this rate of eating keeps your metabolism pumped up, rather than packing on the pounds in "starvation" mode.

I'm a little disappointed I never finished my "year in review" for 2001 or my "New Year's Resolutions" for this year. But then I started thinking about it, and I remembered an old saying, "What is past, is past, the future is unknown, but today is a gift, which is why they call it the present." Fair enough. I'm learning to live more in the moment, and to relax a bit more, especially professionally.

I do want to write in this journal more often, that is a goal of mine. There are many things I want to do in the coming months, but I'm afraid to shift my focus (even a little bit), from my weight loss and health concerns. That is my top priority for 2002 (in 2001 it was my "fiscal health"). I just want to get to a point where I'm managing my diabetes well, and I'm continuing toward my goal of a healthy weight for my height/frame (which is actually probably less than 175, but I couldn't even fathom trying to lose more than 200 lbs., at least at the start).

Take care everyone. Ciao for now.
