...happiness is a warm bagel and cream cheese. I've been thinking about SCARE - or actually, the possible lack thereof... We'll lose at least $100 in making transfers of our non-refundable flights on Air Tran (don't really see a reason to go to Houston for the weekend if we're not going to game, although I suppose Michael might want to go home for the weekend. I'll have to ask). I'm going to be checking for alternate fares to Cleveland (NEGLECt), RDU (Domain Event) or Tampa (SERE), to see which fares will require the least additional outlay.

Then, there is this whole "new Constitution" mess. Sometimes I just wonder what planet people are from... Comments that I've heard include, "well, at least things will no longer be a popularity contest, etc." What part of election *doesn't* equal popularity contest? That's why it's synonymously called "the popular vote." And as for seeing new faces in regional/above offices... it's possible, but still unlikely... People are going to vote for those who are most active in the global chronicle, i.e., the faces that they recognize. Either that, or the most populous district in the region will always run things because all their players banded together to put someone up for office.

Plus, as usual, the Cam actually *sucks* at communicating with its members. A lot of folks are not on the list. Something of this magnitude shouldn't be stuck on a website somewhere and left to the fates. A copy of the Consitution should be mailed to every US member at the email address that they provided at sign-up. In order to vote on said Consitution, the email address must be valid or a new one provided (i.e., take all the bounced addresses and lock them out of voting until a new email/confirmation address is provided).

I'm getting really fed up with so many folks who prefer to do things the "easy" way rather than the "right" way. Perhaps it's human nature, but it's not *my* human nature. Experience has taught me that most things done the "easy" way wind up incurring flaws that require more time/money/attention than if you had done things the "right" way in the first place. I'm facing that with the new XP expenditure system. It's what I should have instituted from the beginning, but I made the mistake of assuming that everyone in the Org is an adult and wouldn't look for ways to abuse the system. As cynical as some may see me, I still believe in the basic good in humanity... at it gets me in trouble every time. I guess my cynicism is of the flavor that "I always expect the worst" but still give people the leeway to do the best. At least when things screw up I'm not surprised.

You know, I really shouldn't post when I'm in a bad mood, it's so unbecoming of me. I'm noticing more and more that I'm sounding bitter and cynical, and usually I do a pretty good job of being positive. Or at least, I want to try. Of course, the last two weeks have been absolutely awful at work, and on top of the deadlines that I set for myself with Org stuff, I'm just frazzled.

In a way, I rather hope they cancel SCARE so I can use that PTO time to just do nothing. I need a break from the world.

Ciao for now.
