I don't often post quotes or lyrics in my LJ, but I ran across something the other day I wanted to "immortalize" for my memories and just thought I'd leave the post public.

This is maturity: To be able to stick with a job until it's finished; to do one's duty without being supervised; to be able to carry money without spending it; and to be able to bear an injustice without wanting to get even. - Abigail Van Buren (Dear Abby)

Let's just say I'm working on it.

Ciao for now.

I realized when I talked to [livejournal.com profile] ladyleo today on the phone that I had not updated on Dad's condition post-surgery. He was discharged on Wednesday, is walking with a walker and doing physical therapy every day. He called me last night and admitted that he won't be able to go on our trip for Thanksgiving, which means I'll be staying with him in Columbia instead for part of the trip. I also talked him into getting a home healthcare aide to stay with him while he's relatively immobile. His girlfriend shouldn't have to take on the burden of caring for him since she's still working full time, and I can't take time off from work right now to be there with him. Besides, the two of us in close proximity for an extended period of time would not work out. We proved that when he had cataract surgery a year ago last summer.

Ciao for now.
