I had a lovely "Cam-free" weekend. At least as far as games and ST stuff goes. I look forward to that every once in a while. It's not to say I didn't hang out or talk to Cam folks, or even talk about Org stuff, but just didn't do any ST type stuff this weekend. A welcome change.
Saturday morning started off with breakfast out to J Christopher's in Dunwoody. From there, I dropped Michael off at the job fair for the Fulton County School district so he could interview for a teaching job. After that we did a lot of running around, errands and miscellaneous shopping. Net result of shopping was some stainless steel mixing bowls, a new 6.5-qt. crock pot, dining room furniture, and an early dinner at On the Border. We went to Target as well, but I didn't make a purchase there. Michael got some new "lounge around the house" clothes and we picked up a replacement bulb for one of the halogen torchieres in the living room.
House finally looks complete now that we have dining room furniture downstairs. The folding table we had been storing there came upstairs into my room to be used as a workbench. This is a good thing, in that it allowed me to finally get around to all the hardware tasks that I had been avoiding of late. My black system has had its sound problem corrected by pulling out the SB Live! Value card from the spare parts box. I also installed the CDR/DVD combo drive I got from
dch4 for Xmas. Shame on me for my inability to ship stuff. I'll make it up to him for his birthday when I visit in June.
Sunday morning I spent writing out tons of bills, etc., and generally catching up on mundane correspondence. I'll mail all that stuff today. We went on our normal weekly Costco run for groceries and wound up with a couple of extras, one of them being a new comfy office chair for moi. The other one is in front of the workbench now. I still need to get a footrest like I use for work at home. I'm having problems with my legs again and it's irritating me.
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow that I'm dreading. I'm still going to go, but I'm dreading it. I have a feeling I haven't been keeping very good control of my sugar lately. I guess we'll know for sure on Wednesday or so. I need to get my act together. Of course, that's the point with the crock pot and the other kitchen stuff I've started to accumulate. I even *want* to start cooking again. I realized that I find it very relaxing. But I also know that I need to start working on my relationship with food again. At one point, I had it under control. I think that this was in large due to fear of dying when I first found out about my diabetes. Now that the initial scare as worn off, I've drifted back into bad habits.
Things *will* get better though. I'm working on it slowly but surely. I need to spend some more time studying things and get myself back on track. I've laid out some good ideas on paper. I just need to continue with the project/planning, etc., and then put it into action. Can't wait for my new slow cooking cookbook to get here. I think that will be a big help in accomplishing some of the things that I have in mind.
Ciao for now.
