I'm in for this year.

My username is 'onmyownterms'

I'm planning on writing a science fiction novel. Working title is "Sensory Overload." It's about a telepath sent to Earth by an ancient race of highly evolved beings to prepare the world for what's coming in 2012.

:)

Let's be buddies!!!

Ciao for now.

Glad you like it!

I'm actually quite excited about it. I just have to write as much as I talk and I'll do 50,000 in no time!

Like last year, I will attempt NaNoWriMo again. Hopefully I won't be sick for two weeks bring hopeful progress to a halt.

I've never done it before, but I had my arm twisted into attempting it this year. I know for a fact that I don't have the commitment to see something like this through, and I'm already running out of steam before I've even started...

...but let's be buddies.

Just do it!

Under 'jennlyle'

Working Title: The Trials and Tribulations of a Young Man Named Foster

Genre: Science Fiction

Brief: A NASA engineer tasked with overseeing the project to put a man on Mars by 2037 crosses the research of a promising MIT student whose work may lead the way towards not only enabling that vision, but also towards curing cancer. However, the engineer is not the only person interested in this student’s work as he discovers when he arrives for their meeting to a homicide scene. Share in this griping science fiction thriller as Daniel (the engineer) uncovers the truth behind the student’s murder and the other forces at work, both opponent and proponent, to what could become humanity’s next great leap.

You've been added to my list of buddies. I think it's great we're both going to be doing Science Fiction too... I like your premise, can't wait to read it!

Well as I was saying before, I just hope it doesn't turn out to be total crap ;-P

About a month ago, I was researching out of curiosity -what- exactly were the unsolved challenges of putting a man on Mars. Exposure to cosmic radiation is up there as a major challenge. Most NASA scientists are still chasing down shielding techniques and work in the area that I'll be dealing with in my story is underway, but hasn't gotten as much attention nor development as shielding solutions. There's some promising research being done at WashU, for example, that would not only help astronauts exposed to cosmic radiation, but would also help victims of dirty bombs... and that approach is very different from what I'll be writing on... but net/net is still basically the same, which was exciting to read about.

I actually wanted to run a game with the premise, but couldn't think of a game that I was well versed in to fit it to. Then the other day I saw your post and was like, "Oh hey, I got a story!" and signed right up.

So, thanks for reminding me of a cool outlet for my story! =D
